Frequently asked questions

Can someone in Vietnam apply for me?

Not for No. 2. Home Affairs' instructions for Vietnam say third persons and agents cannot apply on your behalf. According to the Vietnamese Embassy, only a No. 1 certificate can be authorised to someone in Vietnam, and No. 1 is not the certificate Home Affairs asks for.

How long does the translation take?

Standard delivery for a police certificate is 2 to 4 business days. You can choose 1–2 business days, or urgent within 24 hours, at checkout.

Do I need an apostille on my police certificate?

Home Affairs' instructions for Vietnamese police certificates ask for the certificate and an English translation and do not mention legalisation or an apostille. Vietnam joined the Apostille Convention with effect from 11 September 2026, so if another authority asks for one, it is issued by Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An apostille is translated as an extra page.

Can I get a printed copy?

Yes. The certified translation is always delivered as a PDF by email, and you can add a printed copy sent by post when you order.
